Charles Chibuike Ezeagu, Esq. is a seasoned legal practitioner, Notary Public for Nigeria, advocate, arbitrator, legal consultant and researcher with over two decades of extensive experience in Nigerian legal practice. He brings to Lyons & Eagles Attorneys a wealth of practical and leadership experience spanning litigation and dispute resolution, corporate and commercial law, property and conveyancing practice, arbitration, human rights advocacy, legal drafting, regulatory advisory, consultancy and legal research.

Over the course of his distinguished professional career, Charles has developed substantial courtroom and advisory experience, handling complex legal matters and providing strategic representation and counsel to individuals, corporate organisations and other clients. His practice experience encompasses the preparation and conduct of litigation, drafting of court processes, legal opinions, agreements, deeds and other commercial instruments, as well as advising on corporate, property and general commercial transactions.

Charles has also held significant leadership positions within legal practice. Since 2006, he has served as Principal Counsel and Chief Consultant at Charles Ezeagu & Co. (Diewa Chambers), where he has been responsible for supervising legal advisory services, litigation strategy, arbitration, corporate and property transactions, legal drafting and the professional development and supervision of junior lawyers and support personnel. Prior to this, he served as Head of Chambers at G. Ofodile Okafor (SAN) & Co., where he headed the Abuja office and supervised litigation, legal drafting, counselling, property and corporate briefs.

His early professional development was equally distinguished. He worked as a Junior Counsel at Adam & Co., served as a Legal Officer with the National Human Rights Commission, and undertook professional training with Kanu Agabi SAN & Associates, where he gained foundational experience in advocacy, legal drafting, arbitration, corporate meetings and client counselling. His experience with the National Human Rights Commission further strengthened his competence in human-rights advocacy, investigations, complaints management, counselling and public-interest legal practice.

Charles obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B Hons.) from Enugu State University of Science and Technology and subsequently obtained his Barrister-at-Law (BL) from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja. He is a Notary Public for Nigeria, having been appointed by the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2011. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and an LL.M in International Humanitarian Law and Migration from Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja. He is presently pursuing a PhD in Law at Nile University of Nigeria.

Beyond conventional legal practice, Charles has significant experience in teaching, training, facilitation, advocacy and research. His academic and professional interests extend to international humanitarian law, migration law, human rights, international arbitration, medical law and ethics, human trafficking, international criminal law and the legal and institutional frameworks for combating transnational crimes. He has authored and presented several academic and professional works in these areas, including publications and research on human-rights law, enforcement of international arbitral awards, medical negligence, international humanitarian law and human trafficking.

He is a longstanding member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and is affiliated with professional and development-oriented organisations, including the Institute of Development Administration of Nigeria, the Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) and the Institute of Advanced Vocation & Technology of Nigeria (IVOTEN).
